But God loves a slim chance situation. This is when He allows His glory to shine! I pulled into the school and dropped Lilli off. As I left the school, I barely made it onto the main road when I got a phone call from Coach Stacy. Volleyball was cutting short and I needed to turn around and get Lilli. The day had gone awry, but according to God's will. He's sneaky like that sometimes. I got this Holy Spirit urge to go to this worship service with just Lilli and me. Matt was home to be with my family, so I called to get his blessing to go for the evening.
We walked into the church with such anticipation! The worship was long and beautiful. Lilli and I had to sit down, because of our bodies but our hearts were full of desire for our Lord Jesus. At the very end of the service, they had 20 baptisms. They would do them through the worship and you could watch on the big screen as the water pool was in the lobby. Lilli laid her head in my arms, and we already talked about her getting baptized at the next one in August. It was beautiful as we watched one after the other being submerged into the water and raised to life by our pastor.
Pastor Rod mentioned in the beginning that maybe the Holy Spirit would make it 21, as He may press on the heart of someone else. Lilli lay her head in my lap as we watched 16, then 17, and 18. Lilli lifts her head up intensely looking at me and says, "I want to go." I said, "Sweetie it's almost over, can you hang tight a few more minutes?" It was getting late, 10:30pm-11pm. She says, "No mom, I want to get baptized now!" I jumped up and said, "Really? Okay we have to run it's almost over!" We didn't know what to expect when we opened the lobby doors. But we were surrounded by love! Marcy, and Daniel worked together quickly to get her ready! I think they were as excited as I was. They gave us shirts that said, "Raised to Life" and shorts. We quickly changed in the bathroom with such eager anticipation. You see, Lilli has been asking to get baptized for 2 1/2 years now, but her daddy said it had to be the right time. And it was. When God says, "Now," and we obey then , joy and blessing follow!
It was time. We got in line right after number 20! As we walk down the steps, Pastor Rod's enormous grin and excitement can't even be reenacted! It was so right that everything fell into place. Daniel took my phone to take pictures, and Marcy video taped.
Thank you Fairfax.cc for making it a memorable day for my sweet Lilli! Thank you Jesus for raising her to life!! What a beautiful symbol and pledge that you ask us to do in obedience. Something supernatural takes place that is unexplainable.
Lilli wore her "Raised to Life" shirt for 2 straight weeks to school. And you know what? I let her. It was beautiful to see her response to this amazing moment in her walk with Jesus.
